upward and onward

Apologies, my poppets, for my recent neglect.  As you know, we’ve been dealing with the potential loss of our lease and thus our business since March.  With more downs than ups, it has been a time of daily stress and mostly muddling through a day at a time, some better than others.  I am thrilled to report, however, that last Friday we FINALLY signed a new lease!  Yes, it was  a miracle sent from heaven that I was beginning to doubt would ever happen.

Now that I’ve had a few days to process the end of The Troubles, I can look back and marvel that we made it through what were some pretty awful situations, from dealing with the shock of the initial news, a lawyer who was incompetent at best and downright evil at worst, and brokers and buyers who pretty much destroyed our faith in mankind.  Things started looking up when the building failed to sell and the sons stepped in, but there were still some hairy moments before the final signing.

Yeah, it hurts to look back on all that, but what got us through it then still amazes me now.  The astounding support we got from our friends and families, customers and staff, and even total strangers provided us with enough gas in the tank to hold it together.  We could not be more grateful.

Now it’s back to the business of daily living without dreading the next email or phone call, which is hard to adjust to after 6 months of fear and stress, but I’m working on it.  Looking forward to holidays and long-cooked meals, crafty projects and game nights.  But first!   Our small way of thanking everyone who got us there.  Our staff suggested we do a weekend-long party, so everyone has a chance to celebrate – come one night or come every night.  You can be damn sure we’ll be celebrating every day!
